This article will show you how to remove the M3/Ultra One filament drive.
INTRODUCTION
The filament drive is the printed part, of your M3/UltraOne printer, that guides the filament into the hotend. The filament enters the top of the drive and is pulled, by the gear, past the idler wheel in into the barrel of the hotend. There may come a time where it will be necessary for you to remove the drive. This article will show you how to, in several easy steps, remove the filament drive.
Before starting, take note of the alignment of of the filament drive in relationship to the hotend. The filament should leave the filament drive and enter the hotend in a vertical line.
Requirements:
- Time - 3-5 minutes.
- Hardware - 2.5 mm hex wrench. 2 mm hex wrench.
- How to remove the 40mm extruder fan.
- How to remove the filament drive.
GETTING STARTED
Step 1
Remove the top right screw on the extruder motor fan with the 2mm hex wrench.
Step 2
Remove the bottom right screw on the extruder motor fan with the 2 mm hex wrench.
Step 3
Place the fan off to the side.
Step 4
Remove the top right filament drive screw with the 2.5 mm hex wrench.
Step 5
Remove the bottom left filament drive screw with the 2.5 mm hex wrench.
Step 6
Remove the bottom right filament drive screw with the 2.5 mm hex wrench.
The filament drive is now loose and you can gently remove it from your printer.
To install the filament drive and extruder motor fan, just follow these directions in reverse.
