This article will show you how to properly change the nozzle on the V4 hot end.
* Before reading this article, please follow our instructions on how to remove the V4 hot end — do not attempt to remove or install the V4 nozzle until the hot end has been removed from the mounting plate.
INTRODUCTION
Whether to extend the V4 hot end's functionality or to perform routine maintenance, the V4 nozzle can be easily removed and replaced. However, this requires a specific procedure in order to avoid damaging the hot end.
Requirements:
-
Time - 3-5 minutes
-
Hardware - adjustable wrench, 11 mm wrench or adjustable wrench.
-
Software - OctoPrint for MakerGear.
The nozzles are a standard thread, not a reversed thread.
Step 1
Secure the heater block in the jaws of the adjustable wrench.
Step 2 - Removal
Now, use the additional wrench to turn the nozzle counter-clockwise in order to unscrew the nozzle from the hot end.
Step 3 - Installation
After securing the heater block, use the additional wrench to turn the nozzle clockwise in order to screw the nozzle onto the hot end. Ensure that the nozzle is fully secured onto the hot end in order to allow for consistent material flow throughout the nozzle.
(In-house we use a torque wrench to tighten the nozzle to the barrel, with the wrench set to 48 in/lbs).
