Basic Octoprint Troubleshooting

If you are able to connect to your  Octoprint Interface, but are having trouble using it, try the following options.

Option 1: Logout/ Login

If you find yourself unable to access certain features (like the power menu) in Octoprint, you may have need to re-login. 

  1. Click on your username in the upper left corner of Octoprint
  2. Click 'Logout'
  3. Log back into Octoprint
  4. Try to use Octoprint. If you continue to have problems, go to Option 2

Option 2 : Reset Octoprint

  1. Click on the power menu in the top navigation bar
  2. Click 'Restart Octoprint'
  3. You're interface will notify you that it is not connected to the system, and them prompt you to reload once octoprint has restarted. You may need to manually refresh the page. This process should complete in under 2 minutes
  4. Try to use Octoprint. If you continue to have problems, go to Option 3

 

Option 4: Reboot System

  1. Click on the power menu in the top navigation bar
  2. Click 'Reboot'
  3. You're interface will notify you that it is not connected to the system, and them prompt you to reload once octoprint has restarted. You may need to manually refresh the page. This process should complete in under 5 minutes
  4. If you were connected to the printer via AP mode, you may need to manually reconnect to your printer once it reboots. 

Advanced Option : Manually Disconnect

If Octoprint is having trouble communicating with the control electronics (i.e. you can't move the printer Axes or get temperature responses) you may need to reset communication to the control electronics. Typically it is easiest to skip directly to Option 3 to do this, but i

  1. Click on the 'Connection' link on the left of the screen to open the Connection bar. 
  2. Click 'Disconnect'
  3. You may need to wait a minute while the system disconnects from the control electronics. The process will be over when you see the button's text change to 'Connect'
  4. Click on the power menu in the top navigation bar
  5. Click 'Reset RAMBo' to reset the control electronics
  6. Click 'Connect' in the connection window.
  7. Try to use Octoprint. If you continue to have problems, go to Option 3
