Question: Do I need to run my Ultra One on a 20 Amp outlet or can I run it on a 15 Amp outlet?
Answer: We recommend running your Ultra One 3D Printer on a 20 Amp outlet.
The Ultra One 3D Printer ships with a North American 120 Volt, 20 Amp power cord as shown below:
This plug will not fit into a standard 15 Amp outlet/receptacle. Instead, this plug requires a 20 Amp outlet as shown here:
Question: Can I use an adapter to run my Ultra One on a 15 Amp circuit, like this one?
Answer: We recommend you do not use an adapter. We recommend using a 20 Amp outlet.
We've measured the Ultra One at drawing 13 Amps during continuous operation. A 15 Amp outlet is only rated for 12 Amps of continuous load. This means that the Ultra One should not be used on a 15 Amp outlet. A 20 Amp outlet is rated for 16 Amps of continuous load, so an Ultra One can be used on a 20 Amp Outlet.
If you do not have a 20 Amp Outlet on a dedicated circuit, we recommend having one installed by an electrician. Check out Angies List to find an electrician in your area.
